  Frequently Asked Questions

Question: I just had my windshield replaced by the "Give Us a Break Boys" (and a great job you did). Before I got home it started to rain. I parked it in the garage but do I need to worry about leaking?

Answer: When we release a vehicle, the curing on the window is complete. There is no need to worry because the seals are fast curing should not give you any problem. If for any reason you have a leak, stop back or give us a call and we will take care of the problem right away.

Question: I have a crack or a ding in my windshield - is it really important that I fix it right away?

Answer: Yes! It's important for two reasons:

  1. If the ding is small, it may be repairable. That means your PPG PROSTARS Certified Technician can "mend" the break without replacing your entire windshield. Repairing your windshield typically takes less than 30 minutes, and is fully guaranteed by your PPG PROSTARS Certified Technician. If for any reason it fails, the cost of the repair will be applied toward a replacement windshield.

Best of all, in most cases your insurance company will waive the deductible on repair service, so it's free to you!

But the longer you let the damage remain without having it fixed the more dirt and debris will collect in the break - and the more the break will spread. If it gets too big, it's very likely that replacement will be necessary.

  2. The second reason to have a damaged windshield fixed is for your own safety. The windshield is more than just a "shield" from wind and road dirt - it's an important structural element of your car. It helps keep you and your passengers from flying out of the car in a front impact accident, and keeps your car's airbag in the optimum position to guarantee your safety. If your windshield is weakened due to damage, it could be dangerous to you and your passengers in an accident. Also, damaged glass may cause optical impediments when driving, particularly at night, which is a significant safety hazard.

Question: I've heard a lot about windshields shattering in an accident. Is this true?

Answer: Windshields today are made to resist splintering. In fact, today's windshields are shatter resistant. They are required by law to have film in the glass to prevent shattering. Most windshield are flexible enough to "give" a little to cushion the blow in a low speed accident.

Question: You guys replaced my side glass last week. I still have an odor of glue or something in the car. Should I be concerned?

Answer: The new poly resins will have an odor for approximately two weeks. To most people this does not pose a problem. If you have an odor and it persists beyond the two weeks, stop back and well can take a look at it.

Question: I'm interested in more information on Safety Glass.

Answer: Your safety and the safety of your family, guests and visitors is a responsibility we take very seriously. We will only replace glass in conformance with both the federal statute and local building code.
